Ivanic, Federico Martín
PhD student CONICET
Professional resume + Expertise
Federico Ivanic has a degree in Chemical Sciences (2018) from Universidad de Buenos Aires and is currently doing the Doctorate in Science and Technology, Chemistry Mention, from Universidad Nacional de San Martín, with the IIIA as workplace, with Dr. Roberto J. Candal as supervisor and Dr. Matías Butler as co-supervisor, with a doctoral scholarship from CONICET.
His doctoral thesis comprices the study of transformation products and degradation mechanisms of emerging pollutants used in livestock. The data is extracted from laboratory experiments in simulated water/sediments systems that are then analyzed by chromatographic techniques coupled with mass spectrometry.
During his undergraduate career he carried out a research stay in the Department of Organic Chemistry of the FCEyN (UBA) with a grant “Estímulo” (2016-2018) focused on the regioselective synthesis of carbohydrates. In addition, he served as teaching assistant in laboratory in the same department (2018-2019).
His has a chemical background, with a specialty in organic chemistry, including organic synthesis and chromatographic techniques coupled with mass spectrometry.

Research
His doctoral thesis concerns the identification of transformation products generated under natural environmental degradation of emerging pollutants (antibiotics and hormones) in water and sediments, in systems that simulate the natural conditions (aerobic and anaerobic) in which they may be found. The identification is done through chromatographic techniques coupled with mass spectrometry.
